IEI - Institution of Engineers (India)

The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is the largest multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses 15 engineering disciplines and gives engineers a global platform for sharing professional knowledge and interest. IEI has membership strength of more than 0.7 million. Established in 1920, with its headquarters at 8, Gokhale Road, Kolkata – 700020, IEI has served the engineering fraternity for over nine decades. In this period of time it has been inextricably linked with the history of modern-day engineering.

The Institution of Engineers (India) conducts an examination of its associate membership. This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech. When contemplated as an eligibility qualification to write competitive examinations like the Indian Civil Service, Indian Engineering Services, GATE, etc., and for employment in Government, public and private sectors in India. This qualification is recognized by the Ministry of HRD, government of India, as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.

Objectives

1)     Promote and advance the engineering and technology.

2)    Translate the Objectives and Ethics of IE (I) in to practices

3)     Organize  technical and special lectures in the fields of Engineering, Management and Topics of current interest

4)    Observe the International / National events like World Environment Day, World Telecommunication Day and Engineers Day etc. in a fitting manner by organising technical talks on the selected themes with experts of the field.
