As a part of Tech fest “Panchajanya 2K18” EEE Department conducted a Workshop on “Power Electronics & Drives”– organized by IEDC , Sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science , Technology & Environment from 15-17th of February 2018 in association with Pace Labs Kochi. Participants of the programme include M Tech Students from MEA Engineering College B Tech students from Various Engineering Colleges, Selected Sixth Semester students from ECE & EEE Branches of SIMAT. The Inauguration of the Workshop Started at 10.00am. Mr Renjith P C (Coordinator, AP, EEE) delivered the Welcome Speech. Dr K Babu Director SIMAT delivered the Presidential Address. Prof P V Thankachen HOD –EEE gave a brief description about the importance of these types of workshops. Mr. Aslam P (Resource Person PACE Labs) gave the details about the Hands on workshop. Mr. Sebin Sunny P (IEDC Coordinator) delivered the Vote of Thanks. The inaugural event was followed by the Hands on Workshop at CADD Lab.

Mr. Aslam P- (Resource Person PACE Labs) gave a presentation mentioning the Real world application of Power electronics & how power electronics was related with the real time environment.. He gave an Introduction for Digital power control & Motor Control. Familiarisation of SimuLink Library and Simulation of Simple Power Electronics Experiments.
Session -2
Hands on Live Session of 3 phase PWM Inverter. 3 phase Sine PWM & Induction motor Drive. Simulation of Speed control of induction motor using 3 phases PWM Inverter by V/F Control. PWM wave generation on Simulink.
Session -3
Simulation of Simple Buck Converter. Closed loop Control of Buck Converter. Calculation Load & Output Voltage Regulation. Design Considerations of Different Converters.Harware implementation of V/F control of 3 phase Induction motor.
The Session ends with a Valedictory Function and Group Photo Session.
